Should I get a lower shaft / rod for each coil?

Those of you who have both coils for the AT Pro. Is it worth it to have the extra coil on its own shaft for change out? I am going to purchase the At Pro with both coils and would like your thoughts on this.

If you are going to keep your shafts clean and exercise them often then yes since they are cheap and it does make it alittle quicker I think to change out. Now if you make the mistake like I did with one of my AT-Pro's and let it go to long...the shafts will darn near weld themselves together. I learned my lesson with the one ATP, the other 2 I clean and move/collapse the lower shaft alittle after every use.

You should wash you detector at the very least, weekly. If you are beach hunting, wash it after every hunt or the lower shaft will weld. Take the shafts completely apart and clean after a beach hunt or you will be so sorry you didn't.

I have three different coils for my AT Pro. I took someones suggestion to get the lower rods and hardware with each coil. This configuration certainly, for me, makes the process much quicker and easier to do. Also consider the headphone adapter. Best success for you and the AT Pro.

I have an AT Pro and see no use in putting extra shafts on my coils. The whole thing about mounting shafts to spare coils for easier coil changes comes from the Minelab explorer series of detectors. These machines have the coil wire routed up inside the shaft so it is a real pain to thread the coil wire up the shaft in the field. Since the AT Pro routes the coil wire on the outside of the shaft it rally doesn't make it easier to change coils by using extra shafts. I bet I can probably change my AT coils faster without a connected shaft than with one.
