Should I buy the ace250

The T. Man

New member
I'm new to the sport and I've been looking at all the reviews on the ace250,it sounds like a nice detector. Can someone tell me if its worth it or not.

If you go back on all the Garrett Forums, you will see that the most talked about machine is the ACE Series Detectors. There are more features on this machine then some costing up to three X as much, and you are buying them from a competent company who has been making detectors for over 40 years and have a great warranty. go for it! :)

Don't get one!! You will end up with bags and cans full of Dirty Money that will require you to spend even more money on a tumbler. You will also have to spend even more money on display cases for the rings and other treasures it will force on you. And you have to use it OUTSIDE, in the fresh air and sunshine. It's insideous, I tell ya!!You will have to constantly bend down to retrieve the targets it finds. You will become a slave to the "Belltone". ("Belltone, Belltone, I must obey the belltone and dig the Dirty Money")!!

But seriously, I wish this little jewel of a detector had been around when I bought my first rig, it might have been the only one I ever bought. It will do everything you need for an entry level price.

Nah I wouldn't buy one. You'd just get sick of digging coins and rings and probably throw it away. Ask all the oldtimers like me ( 42 years in the hobby ) why we all own one and use it more than any other machine we own, and we own many, including the top of the line detectors.

Sure, even if you buy another detector later, you will never forget what this detector did for you at a price of 199$.

How come i still own one next to my 1000$ detectors ?
Could it be the Yeller Feller Fun Factor (YFFF)? Yes !!!!!!!

Buy one and start the Fun,
Andy

It depends on where you live. It is that simple. If you live anywhere near me, no. If you live anywhere else please feel free to buy one.

I have been at this gig for 20 years, what a great machine, period. You will no doubt buy another machine afterwards for different types of hunting, like water. You CANNOT beat it for value and effectiveness. Now with the new coils....just do it and you will be happy.

I think that one of the most frustrating things for beginners is pinpointing, this unit will not frustrate you.

Most definitely keep away from the Ace 250....it should have a warning label on it's side..."Warning, this machine is prone to make you lose weight, increase your blood pressure, and could possibly cause your pulse to race uncontrollably. You are also prone to find yourself in compromising positions, i.e. (on your knees and eventually on all fours), could cause blisters/calluses on hands, there have been reports of people just wandering around in open fields, lurking behind old toilets and yes some have been spotted standing in water up to their knees..."

Yes, it's an insidious disease with no known cure and it is spreading rapidly to pandemic stage. It's called "twofiftyitis"

I'm convinced. I just ordered an ACE 250 to use on some acreage I purchased that has a creek and an old horse trail dating from the 1800's.
Mainly I want to look for coins. :clapping:
