Should have an E-trac Thursday!

So last week I got an awesome deal on a trade-in plus some cash for a used E-trac. It was bought last summer and still has warranty until 2015. It's on its way here now and I couldn't be more pumped. I dont have Andys book like so many people say is necessary, but I'm hoping I can do without for the time being (I spent enough as is at the moment). I am open to any tips or tricks anyone might be able to share. I'm planning on using my dads backyard as a testing ground because of an old burnt down foundation thats back there and I have found some nice stuff in the past. So glad to be a part of this group!

E-TRAC sets a new benchmark! Utilizing the precision of Minelab's proven Full Band Spectrum (FBS) multi-frequency technology, E-TRAC is fast, sensitive, accurate and DEEP! Advanced digital filtering has been enhanced with the development of new timings ensuring optimum sensitivity and accurate discrimination. A refined discrimination scale supports real-time analysis on target identification utlizing the fastest, most powerful microprocessor ever. New features include superior ergonomics and the introduction of a USB facility with XChange software, allowing you to download, save and email your favorite settings! A logical, intuitive menu supports easy access across all functions making E-TRAC a superb choice for new users and experienced detectorists alike.

Thanks for the response!

Hey, Bobby S. Down to about 16 hours now. Are you chomping at the bit? Just remember, there is a learning curve so don't jump out there too quickly and get frustrated. You'll love the E-trac once you've got it dialed in....might curse it a few times along the way though. Good luck and I hope you pull some nice finds from your Dad's yard.

Unfortunately it wont be here til Friday now...its supposed to rain tomorrow anyways, so it would of just been a tease. But im going to do all i can to make the relationship work. I know there are a few places that haven't been hit before and this is the machine that can help clear some of it out

Good luck with your new machine ! :detecting:

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to it

It is one fine machine, just when you think you have it all figured out, it jumps up and teaches you some more. Just take your time and let it work for you. Enjoy!!

Test out a bunch of targets you have to get a feel for the numbers, or buy/borrow some poor condition coins of some of the more rare items.
If you are able, you can also make a test garden.
Also, dig some signals that don't fall in the coin range, they could turn out to be some goodies like buttons. I found this out after hitting a site twice and ignoring anything except coins. I missed at least 15 really old buttons this way.
