Short hunt with the Sovereign yields a few goodies...

I went out after lunch today to an old park that I searched a couple of years ago and got some nice finds, but the park was occupied by some protesters shortly after that and they left so much trash, it was like detecting inside of a metal dumpster when we went back after they were forced to leave and with all the loud trash signals, it was next to impossible to listen for the softer signals indicate a deeper target.
I decided to try a short hunt here and figured I could put up with the noise for a couple of hours.
I slowed down and just tried to concentratre on the soft signals while ignoring the loud surface targets no matter what signal they gave.
After about 45 minutes I got a nice soft signal and and dug a plug.
I checked the hole with my pinpointer and got no signal.
I removed some more dirt and notice what looked like a reeded edge of a silver coin at the side of the hole.
Breaking the coin free with my digger, I recovered a Barber quarter.
I didn't try to check the date until after I got home to clean it properly since it looked to be in great shape when first saw it out of the hole. It turned out to be a 1915.
After I recovered the quarter, I re-checked the hole and got another signal which turned out to be a 1915 Buffalo nickel.
Later on I found two wheat pennies... a 1909 and a 1940.
My last nice find for the day was a 1907 Indian Head cent in great shape.
I am amazed that this Sovereign is still pulling out goodies from this park.
This is my first Barber coin from this site, but judging by the age of the park, there should be more here.
I believe I can put up with all the trash if I can manage a few nice finds like these each time I go in there.
Thanks for looking,
Felix

Beautiful barber quarter! You had a fantastic day. Congrats!

Swing low n slow nice finds  That BQ looks prefect . Jim

Wow, great finds! Usually barbers, dimes or quarters, are worn down from heavy circulation to almost slug-like quality, so that for sure is a real dandy there. Great job.
