Made it out tonight before much colder air hits the region and makes detecting life miserable for us for a few days! Found another rental house not far from Monday's hunt - this house was built in 1942. As I got started detecting, a neighbor came over, curious as to what I was looking for. We talked for about 15 minutes and he granted permission for me to hunt HIS home, built in 1946. Next night hunt I'm all over it!!!
The first couple of targets were shallow Wheats, and this got me going. After Gerald's stellar white gold ring found on Monday, I opened up the second notch in 12 khz. I had it set at 00-46, and knew I was missing some gold with those settings, so I changed it to 00-37. About the fifth or sixth target was a jumpy, one-way 45-50 indication that turned out to be the first silver for the year, a worn 1944 war nickel! Was looking for 90% silver coins, and got plenty of indications but all "possible" silver hits turned out to be brass fittings.
Next hunt won't be for a while, but have three houses to choose from - the most promising one is being saved for better weather and an all-day-long hunting window!
