Hi everyone!!
I started out this morning thinking that it was going to be a normal detecting day but a family obligation cut my time
down to a few hours. An hour into the hunt the E-Trac sounded off with a 12-45 signal at 5 inches and out popped the Merc.
The 1900 V nickel was a nice find but it's toast. The medallion with the crossed cannons has a Latin inscription: CITA MORS AUT VICTORIA LAETA 1859
This medallion is the emblem of the Richmond Howitzers which was established in 1859. The words translate to: Quick death or glorious victory. I don't find
many Civil War related items in my area although it's nice to find something different!! Happy hunting.
