Short hunt produces:smile:

Got out for a short 3 hour hunt today with a couple of newbies. My friends Gary and Linda wanted to give detecting a try so I took them out to one of my favorite parks. And the park didn't let me down. I'm not sure how they felt about the park, but I had a great time. After I gave them the how to on the detectors, we gave it a go. They both had a lot of questions as we were hunting and I was showing them how to hold the detector, sweep the detector and recover a target. They were finding the usual park compliment of items. Penny, pull tab, pull tab, bottle top, foil, another penny, etc, etc. Oh, wait! I think there was a dime in there somewhere. After about an hour I got a nice solid 12-01 on my CTX, and out pops the small 1.9 gram 14k white gold ring:biggrin:Gary and Linda were really going after the hunting after I showed them the gold ring! About a half hour later Gary had to go. He had amassed a total of 6 cents, about a dozen bottle tops and pull tabs, foil and junk. But he wasn't dismayed. He wants to give it more time to see if this is a hobby for him. Linda and I stayed another hour and towards the end of that hour I hit a 12-14 signal and out pops the 10k 3.7 yellow gold ring:happy: minus it's stone. After a bit of sleuthing I was able to find the heart shape red stone that was attached to the ring. Linda was totally taken aback by my finding the second gold ring! Now she's hooked to the hobby, at least for now. Linda ended the hunt with 48 cents, a bunch of pull tabs, foil and bottle tops. We all had a great time...especially me!! Here are the pics...

Thanks for sharing our hobby with other people and explaining metal detecting to them. Hope they get into as you have. You are a good example for others to follow. HH
