Went back to the park by the city pool where I found so many pennys last week. found this:

That is not blemishes on the coin that you see, it's dirt fresh from the ground. It sure is pretty!

MrGee that is one great find!! congrats!!

:usaflag:Awesome find....there is nothing like pulling those big honkers out of the ground...congrats !

there were too many people around to do the happy dance, but I did a few mental cartwheels. (No way in H... i'd try one for real). the only other halves that I've found have all been Kennedy oes, so this was a special treat for me. Now I need that Walking liberty and the barber and...............

Benny Franks rocked the long locks on a coin!
During the time this plate was minted that wasn't cool for a dude in this country.
Maybe thats why folks didn't like this coin that much...Its a favorite for me though.
Great Find!

I always liked that Franklin Half. Sadly it was retired in the frenzy to rename everything for Kennedy after his death. It was only around for about 15 years, so there are relatively few of them made. (Compared to the Kennedy which has been around for over 40 years.) Anyway, good looking coin. Thanks to all of you for the comments.
