Short Hunt Coughs One Up

Got out for a little over an hour Wednesday evening.
Took the E to scrub a small field/park behind a baseball field.
I arrived just as practice let out.
Nothing but clad for an hour--and not surrpising, but hoped to find a deep silver dime on edge as the place was used since the 40's.
My last swing of the day was a few feet from a pine tree that was just boiling tree tar. The whole trunk and
the ground was laced with it.
It was right in the vicinity I scored a mercury dime last season with my CZ, so I went with it.
Got a solid 10-48 and I was hoping for a half, but quickly resigned that notion and thought maybe a clad quarter that
up-averaged. However, the machine was singing like a spring robin --a little too good to be clad.
Dug down about 6" and there it was. I love finding these things! The boy scout rings are so much heavier.
I can't imagine how I missed it as I gridded the area with my CZ last year.
Only thing I can think of is that I saw a mid-sized block of cement with a metal piece just to the side of the area that might have been
laying over the top and masking it. Someone must have pulled it up from under the soil.

It seems the boy scouts are about the most resposible organization for the pleasure of Metal Detectorists everywhere....of any other "group". Congratulations on the finds and thanks for the story and picture.
