Short hunt but worth it!

I had a couple hours Sunday so I headed to an old "go to" spot. This spot had a concentration of activity from 1880's-1940's. It's soil on rock with the deepest parts at about 6 - 8 in. It's very trashed out and overgrown with bushes and small trees. I use a small coil and climb around through the bushes etc.
It's work but usually produces something. Results: Merc 1928, Canadian nickel 1929, IH 1893, two wheats 1914 & 1920, small bell.
The Canadian nickel was in surprisingly good condition. Oh - also a CR & L Lines trans. token.

The hard work payed off. Nice group of finds. Love the date grouping of most all the coins.

Thanks for posting. I'm watching a winter storm move through the Salt Lake Valley right now. Trying to see if I can slip in a couple hours detecting like you've done, but the weather is being uncooperative and Santa still has a little bit of work to do before Saturday.

Nice finds, especially that Canadian nickel. The CR&L token was issued by the Connecticut Railroad and Lighting Co. which started in 1901 and centered in New Britain, CT. Your token could be from the mid 1930s-mid 1950s. The company went out of business in 1972. Cool stuff and I hope you can get out some more. HH

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen a dug Canadian nickel in such great shape!! :clapping:

A log of guys in other parts of the country are through for the year...I thought your area would be one of them....that's great you're still hunting!!

Congrats on all your finds, Bruce!!
