Bill[/quote]I'll be in Nevada next week. You leave any silver there for me Bill?

Yeah lots of it. I wasn't into detecting yet way back then. Done all mt tecting in the casinos I helped build. Las Vegas was a lovely place back then before the corporations took it over and turned it into a Yuppie Theme Park. It holds no attraction for me now. All the older entertainers hate it. They had no crime back then either because it wasn't allowed. Now it's crime ridden.

Wish I had of been into tecting then because the silver dollar was the coin of the realm then. Paper money was hardl;y used. Whenever you broke a bill of any denomination anywhere you got your change back in silver dollars. We used to cash our pay checks in a spot called "Honest Johns" and we got a free beer and a silver dollar for cashing our checks there. Most places gave a free beer for cashing your check. Everything was dirt cheap or free back then as the Mafia wanted you to spend your money at the tables.

I used to watch Wayne Newton, Fats Domino, Kenny Rogers, and many more sing to me from a stage right behind the bar for the price of one drink. Frank Sinatra and the "Rat Pack" used to wander downtown about every night and get up on the stage with these guys and we got all that high priced entertainment from the "strip" for free.

Food was cheap as dirt. WE used to eat breakfast out every morning because it was cheaper than eating at home. Got ham, bacon, or sausage, eggs, taters, toast, and coffee for twenty nine cents. A New York steak with all the trimmings and a drink set you back a whopping $1.99. The Silver Slipper had a smorgasbord with every kind of food and drink imagineable - all you could eat and drink for ninety eight cents. LIke I said, it was a lovely place then.

Plus one or more places in town were offering free food and drink every day. If you kept track of them you could eat and drink for free every day. One place would roll portable beer taps right out in the middle of the bar and you drew your own beer for free all day long plus eat whatever they were offering for free. Vegas sucks now, but the Yuppies don't know any different. THey think you always got screwed there.
