Short hunt... Another V-Nickel found

Went out for a quick hunt this evening. First spot looked good on paper, but actually checking out the site.. turned out to be a bust. While I was bummed about that I found a vacant lot that looked promising. Pulled the minelab out and started scanning. The place was INSANELY trashy, and specifically with pull tab / bottle caps tones. Very tough to see through the clutter. Thought I'd switch up to the 5" to see that would help. Even with the 5" the targets were sounding off all over the place.

I got a shallow nickel/bottle cap tone. Normally I would pass this up, but thought I'd pop the bottle cap out, so I could open the area a bit. To my surprise, and only a inch down, a 1905 V-Nickel came out. I went for about an hour without any good targets and ended the evening with a 1957 D Wheatie and a weird pin.

I'll try that spot again tomorrow, might have better luck.. but the V-Nickel was great to get.

If your in trashy area and shallow good coins...try lowering sens. to 12 or so and shut off deep and lower gain to 5 or 6...see what happens...go slow...I have a good program I use at a fair ground and it works....look above this thread...I responded to Daveo...I am kicking butt on old Indians and some silver barbers and buffalos and v-s and mercs...etc...

at nickel signals much closer. Looks as though you have got it down and that's definately going to add to your pouch. Most of the high hits around here have long disappeared so I need to start concentrating on nickel hits. If you are getting nickels...then sooner or later a ring will pop out.
Keep the nickel posts coming
