WENT OUT TO A RIVER PARK TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS.
WAS DETECTING THE USUAL STUFF. THEN DETECTED AROUND A BIG SPRUCE TREE, RECEIVED A SHALLOW SOLID 00-29 @ 3'' ON MY EXPLORER SE WITH THE 12X15 SEF COIL. CLAD RIGHT? LIFTED PLUG OVER AND USED THE PROBE TO KNOCK THE DIRT FROM THE PLUG AND SEEN A BIG RIM OF SILVER. JUST A 1964D WASHINGTON...BUT HEY SILVER THAT'S WHAT WE ARE AFTER RIGHT? THEN MOVED AROUND A BIT AND GOT A BOUNCING DIME HIT. BUT A SOLID SQUEEK. AT 6'' DOWN OUT POPPED A 1929 MERC. HEY NOT BAD FOR 1 1/2HRS. DETECTING. MADE ME HAPPY.:super:

I'll take that any day .... way to go !!

Finding the hot spots is what its all about once you have a good unit and expertise to use it. Many use a small coil to get close and sometimes nice silver is shallow as the roots push up the oldies( a nice seated dime about an inch deep comes to mind) but then again there is always the nice hit you can get to without a chain saw because of large roots hide a nice coin so congragulations on a nice 2 day find in quick time and a timely tip as who knows how many sat under the tree for shade many years ago...
