Short hour hunt at a hunted out city park.

There was a lot of work to do today so on the way to Home Depot drove a little further to a city park in Pontiac Michigan. My favorite old park is gated and locked up until Memorial day.I have hunted this Pontiac park often and even with a group of five hunters. This is a high crime area and today with a cooler temp of 60 degrees not a lot of activity in the park.I chose an area where silver has been found in the past a grove of trees. The XS Sovereign was getting a lot of 177 to 180 readings on screw tabs the park has a lot of trash.I managed to find only a few coins one was a 1956 wheat cent and a 1942 P War Nickle. The nickle read 152 and with a smooth tone, when switched to all metal a quite tone to good to pass up.Today I used an eight inch standard screw driver a quick stab in the sod to create a flap and down about five inches I recovered the dirt caked 1942 P nickle.I guess it was a nice fall like day even a few leaves on the ground in the park.

Some of the war nickles will read a little higher on the 180 meter, but still sounds like a nickle. These have read 144-151 has been the highest reading on a war nickle I have found. The reg nickle has been 144-145. I had one guy send me a war nickle that read 176 also, but that was because of the soil it was in as it leached out some of manganese I believe I was told..

With the Night Hawk meter usually nickels will read 148 for Vs 149 to 150 the new nickels 152-153.I have air tested War Nickles and they read 159.Hey Rick thanks for the information.
