Short handle wet sand scoop

Just wondering what everyone uses...I am using a RTG mini watet scoop right now, but it is a little big for wet sand hunting...looking to purchase a short handle scoop with mesh basket...Are there advantages/ disadvantages to having the bascket mounted at 90 degrees...or with the inward angle..? Also length...8", 12", or 16". Any info is much appriciated....

I like about a 12" handle mounted at an angle. Make sure the handle has extra gussets to support it due to the heavy weight of wet sand. Without the extra supports, the basket will start coming loose from the handle. Jimmy Sierra has very good sand scoops. I don't like the stainless steel scoops because they are heavy but they are strong. I just rinse mine with fresh water when I get home and occasionally give it a shot of black paint. Been using the same scoop for 20 years.

Rtg makes a mesh basket scoop that can be a long handle or break it down to a 12 hand scoop--i rinse off all my stuff when leavig the beach or as soon as i get to a place to rinse and my gear has lasted a long time as well. I use my 6 inch long handle rtg in the wet sand and just drag it to the surf to see the target kick sand in the hole and the way you go.
