Short Field Hunt...

I went back to a field I hit this spring. It was slim pickin's. Found this 1918 Merc. and nice old gilt button plus some suspender buckles, toe taps and junk. It was the nicest day in a long time. For some reason I just could not get into it though. Oh, well maybe next time.
Any ideas on the GT button? It is back marked . KN . Horstman & Ablien (can't quite read Abl).

it looks like it's upside-down in the photo...judging by the wreath. i think it reads 'LG' (?)

Ah yes, upside down and "LG" it is. It's a Detroit Light Guard button. And the maker is Horstmann Bro. and Allien.

See it here:

(scroll down to almost the bottom).

Neat find.

It is upside down - LG for Detroit Light Guard! Most excellent a military button, I figured it must have some history being that old. Thanks again to everyone. Good eyes sangamon!

I rotated the button in the picture.
