Short Evening Hunt Yields First of a Kind

I had a few hours to spare yesterday evening, so I gathered up my stuff and headed to an area I've done a little research on. I think it has the potential to give up some silver, so I wanted to sample a piece of it to see what I'd find. I spent about 3 hours and found these and about $2.00 in clad. The V Nickel is a first for me. It's in rough shape, but I still like it. The old targets ranged from 4 to 7 inches. No silver this time, but I expect there will be some. Running an E-trac with manual sensitivity set at 23 and the stock coin program.

Nice your soil is good to them coins

Not always. This particular spot has some pretty good top soil, but a lot of places here have volcanic minerals that can be fairly caustic. The V Nickel was pretty nasty looking when I found it, but I ran it through electrolysis for about an hour and then cleaned it with an eraser. The Wheaties got a bath for about 15 minutes each and then a coating of paraffin. I'll try to get some before and after pics next time.

Thanks for the comments.
