Decided last minute to go swing. There is a small grassy lawn like area on the edge of campus where a house was taken down some 30 years ago, I do not know the build date. I figured I could survive the heat if it went below 90……
I got there about 6:30 and sundown is 8:15 and I’m sweating just walking the half block. Fire her up and start a circular pattern around a larger mature tree and the very first target I dig was a Wheat, this could be good (cant read the date). I keep going around the tree and hit a very clean tab target that just sounded to hard and clear so I dug the 4” target. Buffalo???? Dang, cant read the date either. I made it just to the opposite side of the tree and dig a clad quarter, so far so good!!! I get back around to the sidewalk side of the tree and start the next circular extension. Bang! Solid 84 (quarter) so I dig, silver????? Can this place get any better? Worked up the shallow incline and targets were getting fewer so went back to the 15’ wide strip between the trees and the sidewalk. Next few coins were just Memorials, a dainty buckle of some type and a revolver casing.
I get home and clean the coins. 1962 quarter, 1958 wheat, 1925 Buffalo, and all the mems were mid 60s. I had to clean the casing pretty vigorously but it was marked PETERS 32-20!
Even 2:00 hrs can bring you some pretty interesting finds. Go when you can but be careful of the heat, it hit me pretty good.
