Short 1hr hunt for Monday Oct. 29th, 2012

Well this was a short but interesting hunt. Went to the park that my detecting partner MartyMoose thinks he has cleaned out. I followed his instructions of where to focus with the CTX3030, which was along an old wall.

Got a couple of pennies on the way to the wall and a British One Penny as well. Then I started along the wall. Tons of iron and foil signals, all deep...really good sign. I switched over to the standard "Trashy Park" program which I edited to use ferrous-coin and hold pitch. I left the screen the way it is though. Headed along the wall again, and got a 12-37 signal. Solid tone all 4 ways.

1932 George V One Cent.

Not a bad start and I'm only 15ft from the beginning of the wall. I kept going and WHAM! I got an overload and 12-32 signal. I moved the Leaves thinking I hit a toonie($2 coin) and this was right on top of the ground.

Another 1913 George V Large Cent...can you believe it? And a surface find too boot.

All I can figure is someone else found this and it fell out of their pouch or pocket.

Now I'm about 35ft from where I started. I kept going hitting some large iron signals, then I got a tiny high tone of 12-31. Large iron right to the left of it. I circle to the right, iron....I circle again, louder high tone, 12-31. I circle again, iron tone. Got it pinpointed and it was 5 inches deep. Wanna guess what I dug up? Wish it had not been too dark to film it.....I tried but you can't see anything but the pinpointer LED and the detectors screen. Tachyon is a good action camera, but is bad in low light. Sorry.

Ok enough suspense, here's what I found!

And cleaned up.

Engraving inside too, it reads "Love Always" in fancy cursive writing. No hallmarks unfortunately, the missing piece has that I think. It's somewhere out there, where ever the lawnmower slung it. At 5" deep though, its been there awhile. Good chance that missing piece is out there still.

Tiny diamond chip in the face and it looks higher caret gold. Darker color. Here's the weight of it.

Have to say though, I never expected gold to ring up that high.
All in all a good hunt and I never finished the wall. It got too dark to see and I didn't wanna get mugged.

Nice loot, congrats on the gold. I have experienced larger 10kt rings coming in around 12-32 on the CTX, maybe due to the larger mass and higher copper content?

This ones at least 18k or higher from the dark yellow color, but this one rang in lower because of the broken band I think and the iron next to it.
