Shopping for a backup electronic probe and looking for some input...

Skillet

New member
Currently using a vibra-probe. Simple, solid unit and no problems over the rough years... but it doesn't hit foil well at all and I'm looking for one that will.

I'd like a unit that can quickly identify those pesky little pieces of foil that sit right on top of the ground and have me reaching for my digger when I'm hunting relics or rings. Wouldn't mind a little more depth as well as the vibra only does about an inch on coins and such.

I'd like to know if your probe hits foil well, what model and maybe how deep it'll hit a coin.

Any and all feedback greatly appreciated!

Hey Skillet, Try the White's Bullseye II 140mm. It hits on tiny pieces of foil if you turn the sensitivity up to just below where it signals all the time. They are pretty nice and has a very powerful LED to light your hole also. Only problem, they are not waterproof. They also have vibration or audio alert. Which is switchable.

I used to have a VibraProbe but sold it because it didn't find all metals and it produced too much interference with my main detectors.

I've tried several others and found 2 that I feel are better for me.

The Pocket UniProbe is more sensitive and I use it almost all the time now. It will usually hit a coin at about 3 inches or more.

I also have a V2 that I got from the big K that I use as a backup. It is a little more sensitive than my old VibraProbe and detects more metals.
