Shooter Update

I posted not long ago about getting my new shooter coil and I just wanted to say this little coil is awesome I can't begin to explain how much easier it has made my hunting in these pull tab infested parks we have around here.
I say this to the ones who is new to the mxt, if you intend to hunt parks and places that has tons of trash such as pull tabs, foil, nails, and you still have only the stock coil you have got to get a smaller coil for these types of areas believe me I know how upsetting an mxt can be when you first buy it and head to the park with it and this small coil with quiet it down considerably.
My only complaint now is this heat around here man it's so bad I can't even get out late in the afternoon anymore and hunt I got out in my yard a couple days ago when the sun was almost down and was in the shade and after about 5 min wearing the head phones I was getting soaked in sweat, want to go today but temp gonna be around 100 with heat index about 107 I don't think so.
I'm kinda thinking about doing research in the summer and start doing my hunting in the winter time what ya think.:detecting:

Your so right , I have had mine for a couple years and its a must have for those trashy places . Glad you like yours and your doing good with it .

Thanks for that update RR. I'm considering adding the 4x6 to my quiver but so far have been ok using my 6x10 when I get into trash and it seems to separate very well. Maybe my spots are not as trashy as it is elsewhere. As far as the heat, it sounds like the MXT Pro will be just the thing you need to beat it. With a backlight you can hunt when the sun's down and it's only around.....90 ? Good luck and stay hydrated.

Hi Rounder, Are you talking about the 4x6 coil or the 5" coil, I have the 5" coil from Whites and it is top dog in any trash pile. Most detectors don,t even go closet to these places.

I have the 6x10 coil and always seemed to do real well with it.

I will probably want to get another small coil. The 5.3 or the shooter but it's a tough one to decide.
Both coils seems to get great reviews.

My new MXT Pro arrives on Wed!

I have the 4x6 shooter coil although I know the 5.3 is an excellent small coil as well with even more depth except maybe in high mineral ground but I wanted to test the DD coil to see how I liked it that way when I get ready to buy a large coil I'll know if I like the DD or the round one better.

Yeah that kinda sux on the mxt pro I went over a year deciding where to get the mxt or the m6 I really wanted the mxt but I wanted the tones of the m6.
Now after only a few months they pop out the mxt pro with the features I wanted and I can't afford to buy a new one and my mxt is practically new so I'm not going to lose a few hundred dollars on it just to buy one.
Not sure if my dealer will allow a trade in or not couldn't hurt to ask I don't guess.

I hear you Rick. I've been mulling over the idea of picking up a 2nd MXT for a backup and 2nd machine since shortly after picking up my current machine. I like it that much. When finances allow, the MXT Pro should be a perfect candidate to fill that role. I'd mount on my first TWO coil choices for a given hunt on either machine and they can both be primary or secondary machines depending on conditions, results, etc. The pro model will also present more hunting options to choose from with it's added backlight. I can't imagine ever having to decide to let the MXT go in favor of another machine so I'm planning on avoiding that dilemma altogether. I think of it as MXT Pt.1 & Pt. 2. I'm just waiting for some feedback from users ( that means you larryk56 ) before I decide and pull the trigger.

I've found the 6X10 and the 5.3 to be much better in trash than the stock 9.5. However, in really heavy trash, the 4X6 is king in my book and great for getting close to the playground equipment in parks or tot lots.

That little shooter is a must have for chain link fence hunts too. (I have an early prototype and still solid after approaching ten years.) Just an opinion but I wouldn't be without either the 5.3 or that shooter.....they each have their own strengths.

Sounds like I'll be spending some more $$$

I have the 6x10 but with all the great reviews on the
4x6 shooter ... I guess I'll have to get one.

Is the 4x6 much better than the 5.3 or pretty close?

From what I was told the 5.3 will go a little deeper than the 4x6 in normal ground and was a good coil for trashy areas but the 4x6 was better at separating in high trash areas.
To me I figure the 4x6 would get as deep as I would want to dig in a park and not knowing what everyone was calling high trash I picked it to be on the safe side and I don't have any regrets at all.
I wanted the 6x10 but already having the 950 so I decided I probably needed to get a small one first and save up for the other.

Hello MXT folks ! Yes the 5.3 coil is great in trashy areas , and does well in the mineralized soils of the southwest. Although having the 6x10 and the small dd shooter in your arsenal would not hurt. Not sure about the MXT Pro yet, I really like the MXT as it is.
