When it is cold I'm in a one piece chest wader with it's boots. Other wise it's dive boots; or when the water is very warm or the plantar fasciitis is acting up, water sandals with a lot of arch support.

I only hunt beaches when its pretty warm, so sandals at most.

We have very fine sand and lots of it so I'm barefoot most of the time, I do wear dive booties in glassy looking areas though. I scooped up a chunk of glass this am off a "clean" stretch of beach so I suppose some sort of footwear is a good idea. My heels have been hurting damnable in the morning and I wonder if its from all the sand walking lately..

I wear dive boots that have extra protection for coral. In colder months its booties or waders.

I hunt about every day so the normal dive boots lasted me about 3 months. That scoop really wears on them. I now wear Mares dive boots with the hard sole..... excellent.

Hey Mud,
That is the way my heels started feeling. I tried heal cushions and that was the wrong thing to do. Gradually got even worse until I got a diagnosis of plantar fasciitis; commonly referred to as a heal spur; both feet. Right healed quickly but left took a lot longer. A shoe with a heel a little higher than the ball of the foot with a good arch support helps. I got two decent pairs of walking shoes and alternate them. The shoe change, some Ibuprofen and alternating icing and heat packs eventually got it well again. Took nearly a year to get the left foot back to nearly pain free. Did not take me completely out of business but slowed me down and shortened the time between rests. Hope yours is not the same; but don't let it go!
Cheers,
tvr

I wear hard soled dive boots.(neoprene). I love going bare foot, and have often pulled up stuff when wading with my toes! I like to be able to feel the sand. Glass can be a problem, but in all the years so far I've never been cut. I do wear the boots most of the time now. I hope your feet are ok mud :)
