This Whistle has been on that roof, in Lynn Massachusetts, for maybe Twenty years... The "S.S. United States" was the fasted American Ocean Liner, for crossing the Atlantic. She sits In PA. owned by a non-profit group, trying to save Her from the Scrappers!

put it in a museum or something? I fear it will deteriorate mounted on that building. You folks have so much historical sites and items up there where you live, and I wonder if some folks take them for granted? I appreciate seeing pictures like this, please keep them coming when you have some free time. Kelley (Texas) :)

PS: Was there ever anything saved from the Tea Party? I always see paintings of folks throwing crates overboard.

SS United States has an interesting technological feature to the hull... Won't say more but her hull has some unique speed abilities..

I believe She held the fastest speed record across the Atlantic . What is the uniqueness of the Hull design?

Hi Everyone, I have just joined this group and this is my first post. Does any one know if the "S.S.United States" whistle shown on top of the Rentatool building, is still in working order? It would be fantastic to have it back on board this great Ocean Liner again. I do hope the ship can be saved and brought back to life.

Probably 20 years. It looks complete. I ride by there often, someday, I will stop and ask about it. They could have some artifacts from the Ship.
Ron

Hi Ron, Wow--i had no idea that the whistle has been up there for about 20 years. It would be nice if you could stop and ask about it and to hear if they have any other artifacts from the ship. Thanks for your reply to my earlier mail.
Bob.
