Not much detecting this year; even less postable days.
Went to one of my old favorites a couple of days ago. This was a site that when I first started detecting it wasn't worthwhile to stand up after digging a target because there would be another within a couple of steps. Ten silver days were common.
Not now, but still gives up some coins.

One of the first finds was a silver war nickel. Later I dug the Buffalo and first saw the shiny side and thought another war nickel. Then on closer observation saw the buffalo. The other side is normal corroded nickel look. I then thought it must have been nested against another coin, bigger than a nickel I thought. Had hopes of a silver quarter in the hole but resweeping indicated nothing. I really can't explain why the reverse is still shiny and the obverse trashed. Every other nickel I've dug is rusted on both sides.
As I was heading towards the car (How many times have we read this over the years?) got a nice silver hit in between the nails. Out came a 1918-s merc in very nice condition. Another sweep over the area gave another nice silver chirp. 1911 barber.
Got some beautiful weather here for a week or so. Soil moisture about perfect. I hope to get out again.
