Found a French thermometer not to far from this hole and it is one of the higher end house in our town. Any help would be appreciated

Does it say franc on it or a date , I'm new to this kind of stuff as far as foreign coinage, I'll be posting some treasure I've came across,any information helps absolutely,if nothing else it crosses things off the list
