I Paid 50 bucks for this pinpointer and i can not complain one bit,,,, it works great,,, depth varies between 1/4"-3". To protect the probe i wraped black tape around it so i dont damage it while poking around in the ground.. anymore questions just ask me about it....

n/t

Here are some pics,,, There is one pic of the Unit itseld,,, Then theres one of the back of the unit, you cant see the switch but beside the 9 volt battery there is a switch and use can either turn the beep on or off.. There is also one of the top of the unit,,,, and also you will notice the grenn light when theres nothing near it and the oprange light when your close to the target,,,, it also has a sensitivity setting,,, it varies up to 3" tho,,, You can purchase these off ebay for around 50$..Also when using in field good idea to wrap black tape around probe so you dont damage it.... Look at the pic

I have one of those, its not the same name though. I leave it at home. Its just one more thing to carry and fiddle with. Besides, I been doing this so long now, I dont miss when I pinpoint.

Well u sound a little arrogant,,, but excuse me i dont like looking for pennies in dirt that is the same color as the penny

when I lived in Fl. When I move here in WVa. I won't leave home without it. Florida's sand was all play. WVa.'s is all clay. How dumb it would be to use a pp on the beach. In this rocky clay soil it helps me from damaging my target. Some dry day's I can hardly dig an inch. I have to chip at the soil. Sometimes I don't know if it is a rock or the target. Uh, sometimes the target is a rock. After I chip away an inch or two, I pp the exact spot. I then chip beside it and pop out the coin. Why keep chipping at the complete hole? If there are a lot of roots, why struggle cutting out the roots? I pp my target and save a lot of energy. I sure miss MDing in Fl.
I have been wanting to air my thoughts on this and this seems like an opportune time. I use to MD years ago in Mich. all sand. In the late 90's I got back into MDing in Fl. all sand. My concept was all based on MDing in sand. When I got on this forum, I thought most people's ACE should respond like my ACE. I couldn't believe the difference in the way the ACE responded here in WVa. IT IS A DIFFERENT MDER! I got quarter's at over 12" and cents at 9". It may had a good halo affect, but I know the minerals were at a minimum.
My finds are totally different. There are a lot more coins in Fl. and the older coins are easier to detect. A fact is there are more rings on the beach. There aren't that many in the mountains. There are way more rings in Fl, more tourist and more money. In the more populated areas you find more coins. People = coins. People here are a lot poorer in WVa. and hang on to everything they get. You don't even want to go to yard sales here. Over priced and poorer quality. I couldn't MD a public school in the country, because the locals mow the grass and take care of the up keep. THEY told me no MDing and I wasn't about to argue the point.
The finds are of a different nature in the areas we live. There are many variables. My point being, if a person is happy with is finds and what ever few and meager they may be. I am happy for him. Where as another person maybe didn't break his 50 ring count for the year. That could be depressing if you live on the beach and worked hard everyday at trying to break your goal. I have to feel for him.

Hold on a minute, let me check...yep, youre right, I am.

All kidding aside , you're looking for pennies in the dirt any way you cut it. What's the difference if it is with an extra gadget or just sweeping a handful of dirt over the coil?

Seriously, John makes a good point. Here where I live it is not something that I really can justify. By the time I get the little pinpointer out and get it into play, I have found whatever I am looking for in the first place. Then, if Im lucky I'll remember to put it back in my pouch. If I'm not lucky that day, I'll end up leaving it behind. Besides, odds are that just about the time I get it out, the 9V battery will die and I'll only have spares for my detector... Etc. etc.

This may come as a surprise to some, but many of us (self included) were finding stuff before pinpointers hit the scene. I've had three different ones, since aside from being arrogant, I AM also open minded. The best of the lot seem to be the SunRay in-line models. They're nearly $200, though.

Do what you please, my friend, but for me, the hand-helds aren't worth the fuss.

BTW, I am anything but arrogant. Smart and worldly, perhaps. Even boorish, at times. But arrogant? Never.

I personal think, anybody that finds a 6 pack. Drinks it and gets drunk and then falls off a picnic table. He can't be all that arrogant. Especially if he confesses the story so the whole world knows what he did. I don't think I would have told anybody that one. It was funny though. I like your candor, which can be misconstrued. Be yourself. If you change, may it be only to better yourself.

Yeah you're right bud. I'll insert my two cents and pizz everybody off. I've been in this hobby for 44 years and have found several hundred thousand coins plus jewelry and trinkets, all without a pinpointer, and many years before pinpointers were even heard of and before detectors had a pinpointing feature and you had to do it the hard way. I figure if you can't pinpoint a target with today's hi-tech detectors then you just haven't got your machine figured out yet.

IF the pinpointing features of today had been available back in the early sixties I would have really left no silver behind for today's hunters. Where I like a pinpointer is in the barkchips out here where pennies are the same color as the chips and clad that has been in them for awhile are also the same color. The volcanic soil here turns coins brown and black fast and makes them nearly invisible.

Even though I have a Sun Ray ( the absolute best ) old habits are hard to break and I find myself more often than not using the coil to pinpoint with.

You forgot to mention that I fell ASLEEP after drinking the 6-pack, then rolled off the bench and whonked my noggin. There's a subtle nuance there, I think. Besides, I don't think that having a nice beer buzz would've had me tossing myself off a bench on it's own, as many times as Ive been in that condition over the years.
Nevertheless, I'm sure it was very funny to see - I wish I'da been there to see it myself... Well, you know what I mean.

With friends like you, John ............ who needs many more? You da man.

I agree with you on one point Bill. The size of my holes have gotten pretty small as I've gained experience with my MD. However, I wouldn't go out without my ProPointer. It does save time. It tells me how deep to cut the plug for one thing. I've gotten in the habit of carrying my drop cloth, my digging tool, and my Propointer in my free hand and it works good for me - haven't left it behind yet.
BTW, I carry my digging tool with the blade wrapped up in the drop cloth so as not get the Moms excited about a gnarly old man in the park with a knife.
