Shell Casing help

Hello All,
Thank you in advance for your help. I found this shell casing in an old part of town. It is non-tapered with no writing on the bottom. It is about 2 1/8 " tall and about 9/16th of an inch at the base and about 1/2 inch at the top. I have never posted a pix before I hope they come out clearly. If not I will try again.

Thanks ColoradoCav. I am in St. Pete, Fl. and this was found near the originally settled area of the city. You just don't expect to find this kind of stuff in this area. Have to go look for some more.

Based on your measurements, look around the 40-60 sizes. Use dial calipers to get measurements in thousands of an inch.

Looks like some of the end (neck) may be missing

It's odd that it is missing the primer. Someone lost it or threw it away after removing the primer for re-loading. Cases were almost always reloaded in those days.

Thanks Musketeer, I will ask around if anyone has a caliper. I will also look to see if some of the neck may be missing.

Interesting thought GilbertBerry, don't recall ever seeing a shotgun shell with that much brass. But you never know.
Thanks for looking and your input.
