Sheesh, I hope my Long term Care Insurance application is not denied...I think I flunked "fruits and veggies"...here's what happened

I got a phone call this week from a representative to check on my "cognitive " abilities.

It was 9 AM..didn't even have my cup of coffee yet, but I answered the questions as best I could . :help:

One section was :" In 30 seconds name as many fruits and vegetables as you can".......well , all I could think of was that clock ticking away the 30 seconds, so I went the alphabetical route..."apples , bananas, carrots, dates, figs, grapes, ...uh, duh...( clock ticking away)...um, strawberries, uh, melons...uh...would you believe I could not think of any vegetables even though my refrigerator is full of all shapes & sizes of veggies ..

Well,my 30 seconds ran out...after I was able to recall last but not least..... lemons

I think if the interviewer had not put a time limit on the list, I would have been fine...:rage:

Strange , I can remember just when and where I found that 1786 CT. copper coin last year, but I couldn't remember but one vegetable!

Will keep you posted on this scenario.

When one buys insurance one should check out the companys history and the underwriters too. There is a co that advertises on tv often that I know has filed bankruptsy 2 times (each time they stiffed the policyholders) and changed their name then sold more insurance , even now the advertise life ins on tv.

friends who are about 15 yrs younger than am I were not subjected to any interviews.

There were many questions : situations that called for "common sense" answers; math problems that had to be answered without pencil and paper; short -term memory recall of several words stated minutes earlier in the conversation...things like that...

Interviews such as this are conducted to rule out dementia.....they wanted to make sure I am not demented...all they had to do was log onto this forum to see that I am perfectly sane.....:rofl::rofl:

Well, if I am a "reject", I'll have saved myself a bunch of money...that's the rainbow in the sky.

"what is the first thing you would do if there was a fire in your kitchen?"

I replied " dial 911"...but I think the correct answer is "get out of the kitchen"...but I was thinking that if I was on the second floor here in my computer room, I could grab my cell phone, dial 911 , and then jump out the window onto the attached garage roof, and slide down the rain pipe.

I should have clarified with the interviewer where she was placing me in the house when the kitchen caught on fire.
