Fri. afternoon I went to a place that I use to go to a lot 3 years a go and have done real good there. Since then I only go there a few times a year because it's getting real hard to find anything good. Anymore, if I'm luck I'll find a wheat or 2. On the way to this place and not too far from there I drove by two vacant lots a block a part. One of the lots had a for sale sign with the name of the owner on it and I know the guy, so I should be able to get permission to MD that lot.
I get to where I was planing on going to. This place is about the size of 4 square blocks with nothing there except for nice mowed grass. I can't give out any details about this place because you never know who is reading these forums. Over the past 3 years I have pretty much covered this place so my plan for the day was to just wonder around. I was out wondering for a good 45 min's when I come a cross a signal that was locked on #48. I switched to AM and I didn't hear a iron grunt and that's when I got to thinking that this might be something good because I have found a few HD's at this place in the past. I cut out a deep plug and it was still in the hole. I start to loosen up some of the dirt in the hole and that's when I saw the reeded edge of a big silver coin. I wasn't able to wash it off because my little water bottle was emtpy, but I could tell that it was a Walker. I can't believe it, this is my 8th Walker for the year, YAAAAHOOOO. After that I go back to wondering around and after about a 1/2 hr later I get a wierd signal. A few months a go I ran in to a signal like this one and it turned out to be a Merc dime on edge. It was good one way but when I swung over it the other way the tone would kind a faded in an out and it was hard to get a pinpoint on it. I was hoping that it was going to be a silver dine, but it turned out to be a nice silver Catholic medal, sweeeeet. After that I wondered around for a good hr with out finding anything good and it it was getting late so I called it a day.
After I got home I went in to the GIS site for my county to see who owned the one vacant lot and it turns out that the owner lives about 2 blocks from me so Sat. morning I walked over to their place and knocked on the door. I had a real nice chat with the guy and he gave me permission to MD that lot. I called Randy and he gave me permission to MD the other lot. I waited until about noon for it to warm up because when I got up Sat. morning it was 28 degrees out. I get to the first lot and I wasn't there 5 min's and I found my first wheat and it was a steady diet of wheat's after that. I was there for about 4 hr's and covered about 2/3's of the lot. For the day I found "2" Merc's, 43, 44d, "2" Rosie's, 50d, 51d, a 36d Buff, 22 wheat's and a 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition, Union Pacific railroad Token that was hit by a lawnmower. For the year I am up to 157 silver coins.
Today I am going to finish that yard and start on the other one.
