Shaved off an ounce of weight from the T-2, New coil look.

I think this looks sharp, And an ounce lighter to boot.

Shaved off an ounce of plastic from the T-2 coil, T-2 just got lighter even though it doesn't need it :)

OC...What on earth tempted you to do that?

The rigidity of an induction balanced coil is paramount to maintaining its 'balance'.

Summer and winter temperatures variations cause the search head material and the coils inside, to physically deform. The ribbing helps to minimise that.

Being a motion machine you will probably not be aware of any shift in its electrical balance, but if it does suffer from expansion and contraction then performance will be effected.

Problem is, you will never know in absolute terms.

I don't recommend anyone else does this to their search head...MattR.UK.

CHECK WITH TEKNETICS AND HEAR THEIR COMMENTS.

Paul that does look cool but does it make the coil weaker? I think if the T2 is too light it will be unbalanced need a little weight to have some feedback. But you are the guy that can do so many things to make things work a bit better so you may be the only one with a coil like that but I am sure you like it better! If they make a small coil when you are done with it, it may be invisable...:yikes: just joking.

I am sending your MXT out today, thanks for trusting me with it. I would rather use the T2 then the MXT. I hope to go out at some point in the next month or so for a few hours part of my healing you have to play when you are fighting for you life.

I will keep in touch and look forward to hanging out with you next year maybe we can do ChinaTown and I can see all the tricks you have learned cause I am going to be a bit rusty no pun intended.

I know one ounce hardly has an effect but it sure does make the coil look nice, T-2 sure is a winner for sure

Thanks Mark,

I'm still using the GPS you sold me, Excellent tool one can use for research.

Thanks again, Paul (Ca)

Hey amigo,

Definitely heading your way in mid January, On vacation and will spend some time with you especially in old Chinatown.

The coil is not weakened at all, First Texas did an outstanding job with the coil. So trimming some excess fat from the lighting speed coil is ok.

See you soon LAWRENZO, hang in there with your recent setback.

Am I the only one around here who pays attention?

I don't think he is dumb enough to first cut open, and then modify his real T-2 coil under warranty. This was an extra- He has 2!

I don't reccomend everyone with a T-2 try it, but I commend OC for taking the time to show the forum what the windings look like inside and such.

The man obviously likes to tinker, and I think it looks sweet. Give the fella a break, it's an old coil from before the updates.

Jack...

If you are privy to something the forum doesn't know, or OC don't tell, well so be it, no need to get shirty
Old C posted...we like good neighbours commented on the post.

So tell us more...

Since when have Teknetics been handing out freebies, like 'prototype' T2 search-heads? I'm interested.

Why? Well, the adverts call the T2 head a BIAXIAL.

Do you know what that implies?

Is this 'prototype' a true Bi-axial?

Or is it a bog standard Double D configuration?

Now answer those questions AJ, and you have my undivided attention....Luv M

Appreciate the input Jeff, now the situation makes sense.

I am still curious though about the play on words regard the final head configuration.

Some ads say Biaxial, others say DD.

In engineering terms, I understand there to be an implied difference.

If I were asked to replicate both types, there would be a difference.

So far the lads who have opened these heads have told us nothing about what they have deduced technically.

It will be a pity if the exercise was simply done out of curiosity rather than a proper engineering investigation.

I did contacts one of the recipients to find out if it were possible to purchase the redundant heads, but so far no luck.

There is no mystery regarding the common DD coil, or its various forms of screening. It is the whether the title Bi-axial was truly applicable as something different, rather than being used to imply something a little more complex.....MattR.UK.

Thanks for the kind words Jack,

You're correct, The coil is an extra coil and a free proto-type coil Mike let me have a couple of months ago.

Between the two coils, Both operate the same out in the field only the proto-type housing is put together a little different.

Thanks again, You & your family have a safe happy Merry Christmas :)

Hello Matt,

It's Christmas holidays and we're all friends here, Time for joy and to get into the Xmas sprit.

Jack's post was made with the best intentions, He follows the T-2 forum and really meant no harm with his post.

Enjoy the X-mas holidays and the T-2, We are so lucky to have this forum and a detector like the T-2 :)

HH, Paul

Hello Eddie,

Matt is correct, Any type of mod on the T-2 coil will void the warranty. The coil I sort of keep playing with is a proto-type coil.

Have a safe and Merry X-max,
HH, Paul

I was sticking up for OC and his coil efforts as it seemed he was getting beaten up-

Lets get back to diggin
