Sharpshooter 2

Hi.
My name is Peter.
I live in Queensland, Australia. I am a previous user of a Whites 6000D, back in the 80's, & have just purchased a Sharpshooter 2. Just starting to get used to the different sounds etc, & find that it is a lot different from the old 6000D.
If anyone can give me some advice or tips on the Sharpshootet 2, I would most appreciative. I'm an old dog that needs to be taught some new tricks.

Regards,

Peter

Hello, Peter! Bigsquid (Steve) here. In southwest IOWA, USA. How are you, buddy? I got a SS 2 a year ago and it is a coin-snoopin' son of a gun! Swung a Red Baron RB-5 for 20 years before that. If you rely on your tones for your finds, I have found that the crisper and higher pitched the tone is.... the better quality find it is. Silver, or, good solid coin. A lower tone, like a rockin' chair muffled fart, is gold, nickle, or, junk. Watch your display indicator as you listen to your tones. You'll catch on as to what is what pretty quickly. i know I did. My SS 2 tones out different than my old unit did. You'll get it!! Hang in there and "Get-Er-Done" HH Steve

Thanks, Steve.
I've read a few reviews on the SS2, & they're all good, so I guess I'll concentrate on the tones & display. The area I'm doing at the moment is very trashy, (old pub site), & probably not the best place to be learning a new detector.
Sure is a bloody lot lighter than the old Whites 6000D. I reckon it'll end up ok in the end.
I'll let you know when I start hitting the coins.

Pete.

The ss2 is a fine machine.I found a 1854 napoleon 111 french coin with mine 8 inches deep under a giant root.Good luck you all. mike

I have read alot of technical descriptions of detector functions over the years, some mindbending at times. But the following is the most enjoyable function description I have read:

"A lower tone, like a rockin' chair muffled fart"............lmao.......a very technical description

GLAD YA liked that. Best descriptoin I could come up with.... Bein' the hillbily that I am!! LOL. That really is what it sounds like to me. Anyway...... HH Bigsquid!
