Bob,
I liked the 10.5" for covering ground. I picked up my oldest IH with it in a field next to an old abandoned lumber camp. Someone had used the penny for target practice, it has a .22 cal hole dead center.

Your right about that. It worked great for me when we hunted the woods on Saturday. I found some pretty deep bullets that sounded good all the way.
However, the bigger coil really hurt me on Saturday when we hunted the 1700s house site. I couldnt get a good target to save my life there. It was very frustrating. I only ended up with 3 or 4 good finds. The other 2 guys with me really kicked my butt. The other thing I did wrong was not turning the sensitivity down even more than I already did.
