Sharp Shooter 2 and Discovery 2200 Advise & Feedback

Woodstock

New member
Hi Everyone in Bountyville!
I'm kinda a "newbee" here but not to the hobby we enjoy. Fact is I've been scrubbin' ground since 1982. I've owned many brands from almost ALL the manufactures..several Whites, Garretts, Fishers, just to name a few. I've always had more than I could use and still do.
I'd like to know why Bountys get bad reviews from the owners of others. I added two more units to my herd and I see absolutely nothing bad about these units. I have a Sharpshooter II w/ 10" coil that air tests "as good" or even better than some of the $600 to $700 units I've owned in the past, including a Landranger I just sold to a buddy.
I also have a Discovery 2200 that I added a 10" coil to and it passed "ALL" air tests with flying colors! In my past experiences ALL of my units from different company's tested as well in the air as they did poundin' the dirt.
I'd like any and all advice on how well these two machines did and do for you and any and all tips to get the best out of them both.
I guess my biggest dilemma is that there can not be much difference in ANY detectors once you reach a curtain level unit. Now they almost all run on Micro processors and maybe there circuits and sizes and shapes are different...but they all have the same basic function, to detect.
The people that put them down just do it to justify sending $600 more. Just like there fancy cars...if you pay $40,000 for your car, any $15,000 car is junk. Even though the $15,000 one gets you there the same way.
ANYHOW...NOW THAT I GOT LONGWINDED ON THAT............Any advice on the Sharpshooter II and Discovery 2200 would be nice.

These are the detectors currently in my herd.
A C - Scope 2MXP (new and haven't used yet)
A Minelab Sovereign w/ many SunRay extras
A Tesoro Silver Sabre ( since 1982 )
and the two BH's I described above.
I also use the best headphones, Gray Ghost, DepthMaster Audio Enhanced and I'm waiting on some Timberwolf Howlers I just bought.

NOW HOW ABOUT SOME GOOD ADVISE!!! Happy Trails and Hunting to All ! Woodstock

hello, i have a 2200. it does real well in air tests and the targets i have found were at the depth indicated and the detector pinpoints well. the jury is still out on how deep it can actually detect coin size objects. most everything i have found has been at 4 inches or less. depending on soil conditions i have been told that it is possible to get coins at 8 or 9 inches with the 8 inch coil. time and practice will tell!

Thanks for the info.
As I said before I'am a "Newbee" here (about 2 months) but not a detecting "Newbee". I can't understand why all the depth you've achived with a 8" coil is around 4", unless your lifting you coil 2"+ from the ground. In all my years I've only had two detectors that had problems over 4", a old Garrett TR and a old of brand japanese Radio Shack toy. And these two never air tested that well to begin with.
I learned to "scrub" the ground keeping the coil an inch or less from the surface of the ground and an 8" coil should achive it's diameter in depth in good soil.
Another thing I can't get right is trying to understand why a company would sell so many different models under different names and have problems with depth? All detectors run by the same rules...just different circuts and prosessor's. Yes, they can achive more modes of discrimination and all but the transmiting signal that goes in the ground and the receiving signal should not be affected. I guess what I'am trying to say is if you put a Fisher F4 up against a Sharpshooter 2 and they "air test" the same...why should the F4 get more ground penetration?
That is why I use a 10" coil and on all my other machines a 10" coil will get at least 9" in depth. Heck, my first Whites Coinmaster 5 picked up indee's at 10 to 11 inches in damp black soil with an 8" coil ! Dimes at 8 to 9 inches! I can't wait to see what the Sharpshooter and 2200 can do...........Woodstock
