Shallow fresh water hunting..AT.PRO or AT GOLD ?

New member
What are your thoughts on which model is a better unit for this type of hunting? TIA

Go with the Pro!! More mode choices to work with and if you're not hunting nuggets, not much use to spend the extra dough. If you feel your area might be infested w/bottlecaps, spring for the 6 x 9 concentric coil so they won't be so much of a bother. Some like the bigger 9 x 11 but it's a beast to shove thru the water. I like the DD on shore but in the water, distinguishing the bottlecaps is brutal at best. JMHO, don't ya know!!

I bought the AT Gold because it has a threshold and it has the deep seeking all metal mode, the AT Pro does not have either one of these, and the price is not that much more,

Get ready to scoop some split shot and other tiny pieces. The ATG will find the itty-bitty things that the ATP will just chirp on. I haven't put my ATG in the water yet, basically because all the lakes are dried up down here, but from what I've dug out of the ground, I got the feeling it's gonna hit on some REALLY tiny bits in the water.
