Shaft locks

Is there anyone out there that could tell me how to remove/install the factory shaft locks used to secure the lower rod to the upper tubing. Explanations/pictures would be greatly appreciated. I have an Excalibur that I want to make a straight shaft for using the factory shaft clamp. Thanx, seasons greetings...Pete

I am not sure if this will be the same for your detector. But my Whites Spectrum has a ring type insert at the widest point (top) this can be pulled out of the larger remaining piece. Also-the upper rod has a square placement piece of plastic that goes into a slot in the same rod......so you will need to then turn the large piece(remaining plastic lock collar) till you can slide off. Hope this helps.

The locks are three pieces. The ring slides over the shaft first, then the lock goes into the tube (shape may vary per type of detector, this one is for a Fisher, Minelab are usually round). The grip piece is slid over the lock and then the ring is super glued to the grip portion. You could try a razor blade or Exacto knife blade in the joint where they are glued and hope you can pop it apart depending on how muck glue was used?

These vary amoung brands and models of detectors. Try to call Minelab to see if they will sell you one alone. If not, I have bought them from Fisher before.

Hope this helps.

Jeff
