Shaft lock

How do you take off the shaft lock on your upper shaft on a Sovereign Gt I don't want to force and break it. I'm going to put on a plugger shaft lock. Once it's off can it be used again ??

Take a hack saw and saw it off right behind the lock. Throw it away. After you use Plugger's you won't to use it again.

:super:

Also make sure to file down the rough edges of the aluminum tubing.... The stock cam locks can be removed without cutting the tube, but it's a pain and they're not worth saving.

OK I'll give it all a try ....glue gun first...then I'll hack on it

Thanks

There is a thin retaining ring at the back of the twist lock body. It is secured with super glue. Use a razor blade, exacto knife or a box cutter and just score along the the thin gap between the two pieces. Keep rotating the twist lock body until you have cut thru all the glue and it will just pop apart. You probably won't be able to reuse it. The new shaft locks are much better anyways and are not prone to crapping up like the twist locks because there is no cam to get stuck.

Hey plugger Thank you for my Excalibur rod.....very well done I'm very pleased with the quality and the service that you guys deliver. I also like these locks for the shaft. Thats why I'm putting one on my Sovereign GT Rod.

I will tackle that project after dinner tonight
Thanks and Happy Holiday

I want to get a Plugger 2 piece shaft for my Excalibur II, I'm 6'4 tall and I was wondering if the plugger would be long enough. It says there 39" long and the stock shaft measures 48" .i deffenetly don't want to go shorter then the stock shaft. Thanks for any help with this. HH

Plugger's easy to work with. I'm not sure if the stock size will work for you, but he would probably be willing to make a shaft to your size specifications.

Plugger will make the shaft any length you want or need and if you are not sure what is best for you give em a call and discuss it. I have two Plugger shafts that were custom cut to fit my 6'5" hight. Same with their chest mounting set up, Plugger put longer belts on mine to fit my 66" chest, fits perfectly.
I really suggest if you have any ? about the Plugger shafts or any of the other products he produces to give him a call, you won't be disappointed.

You don't even need a cam lock if you do this simple mod. The adjustment snap pin has two heads on it but there is only holes drilled for one side of it on the shaft. Drill the hole all the way through the shaft so that both snap pin adjustment heads can pop out of the shaft. This will take all the slop out of a shaft. The stock camlock does little if nothing for this and isn't really needed IMO. I don't use a camlock on my custom light weight shaft for my GT.
