Shadow X-5 and Tek G2 Comparisons?

Hey folks, I'm really trying to decide on adding a new detector for my hunting needs, and was wondering if any of you folks have owned and used both of these machines. I used an X-5 for about 9 years and really enjoyed its sensitivity and depth capabilities. Since it and the G2 use the 19 kHz operating frequency, I was wondering if they compared favorably. I know the G2 is supposed to be great on separation of targets..... in trashy iron areas and such. But does it compare with the depth capabilities that I enjoyed with the X-5? 99% of my hunting is for Civil War relics, and I was hoping that the G2 would do the trick. Thanks to any and all that could help me out!

How deep are you really digging your relics ?

Ken, in most areas that we hunt, the relics are probably no more than 4 to 8 inches. That is most areas. But there is a river bottom at Jenkins Ferry that we have dug bullets at 12 inches or so. Some have claimed to have dug them even deeper. During this battle one of the reports read that the men were standing in knee deep water as they fought. I guess if they dropped a bullet..... it stood a good chance of being stomped into the mud. My buddy and I are headed up there this morning, and I'm gonna put my F75 to the test there...... wish I had the LTD/SE and Boost Mode..... but we'll do what we can! Thanks.

Well the G2 can get that and plus on a bullet somewhere around 10 to 12 inches , and even further on a plate. remember that deep does not mean and great find. Now, the best part of the G2 is you can see the number or VID, the X5 not so much and the recovery speed is no where close to the G2. Food for thought.

Thanks folks, and I'll check the G2/Gb forum as well.... thanks again.
