Shadow/Tesoro X2 Equivalent with the Silver U-Max?

Actually, the X2 was built on the earlier Silver Sabre micromax which is not the same animal as the Silver umax. None of the 3 have auto ground balance. They are factory preset ground balance. The sensitvity, discrimination etc. are similar, but not necessarily exactly equal. They are all light, quick responding detectors that are quite popular with seeded hunt participants. The X2 has a coin check button that serves much like an extra discrimination setting to help quickly determine a targets likelihood of being a coin. Hope this is helpful.

Troy Shadow X2 a killer of a detector on coins, loves nickels and likes gold too!...designed by Troy Galloway, produced for him by Tesoro...Tesoro then used some of his ideas to produce later models of detectors. Its based on the earlier Silver Sabre models not the current Silver Umax. I use to run my X2 at Disc 2 to 2.5 Sens at 8 here in VA. when i got mine I had Tesoro do a tune up on it.And it became one hot detector., it had a coin check feature also that you won't find on any Silver Umax models.Personally if you can get your hands on a Shadow X2 go for it ! well worth the money. The Super 7" conentric solid coil on it is awesome.PS Tesoro honors the lifetime warranty on it.The X3 and X5 models are Fisher built only. The X2 is only Tesoro model.. The X2 operates at the 10.KHZ same as the Silver Umax, both weigh about the same,X2 color is all black style.as oppose to the Silver color scheme. You could not go wrong with either detector,The Silver is easier to get coils for. etc.Monte could tell you the pros and cons of both detectors if anybody can
