"Shadow boxes "

Active member
My Dad made these in his later years,(75 or so),while he was at his summer residence in Dania Florida. He always kept busy while he was there. My Mother didn't mind him spending his time on his pastimes. As long as she could go to Bingo,at night! During the day, wasn't too much else for Dad to do. My Mother loved it though, most everybody was French Canadian, and she was French, and spoke it well! Dad was Portuguese, and no comprend FrenchFry! I am very lucky to have a dozen or more different boxes like these. He was creative, notice how some sails are red,or white? He made them from empty laundry detergent containers! He hand carved the hulls from scratch, used putty for the "ocean",believe my Mom, may have painted the backgrounds.Simple, but worth their weight in gold!
