In the select screen does anyone check Fe coins and have good results? When I've tried it my detector constantly chirps for an iron target so I unchecked that item.Also,Sabisch's book states that with very few exceptions,the CONST mode should not be used.What might be an exception,and if mode is not very useful,why is it there?
 
The best way to detect with the explorer is the simplest way. After the machine turns on, press the iron mask button, set it at -10 and press the iron mask button again.. This gives you the Iron Mask Window which is dark on the left and clear on the right. Now dig ALL repeatable signals..

you can still get most ferrous coins running with just nails rejected, I think accepting fe coins will accept nails.. better off running in iron mask anyway.. even low levels knock out most nails and small iron.. Some people just like to dig everything without analyzing it, so single tone would make everything sound the same, no thoughts about the target just dig <IMG SRC="/forums/images/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":)"> Me I get a kick out of using the tones, quality and meter to guess what it is, even though I dig all positive responses at my sites anyway.. just fun knowing its got a chance at being silver <IMG SRC="/forums/images/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":)">
 
Thanks for your input.Most of the time I use advanced mode,iron mask at -10,have checked to accept coins and jewelry with others left blank,deep recovery,but on fast if trashy sites,semi-automatic varies,but usually 28,audio normal,variability and limits on max,gain 5 or higher.I have been using smart display,but have also made some great finds using digital.
