Have not used my E-trac yet,but ive been thinking ablout some settings

just a thought

I don't have an eTrac...yet... but I do have Andy's book (and it's at home). There's a setting referring to something about highly mineralized ground and in the book he says that US folks should use that setting in most cases. Again I'm not sure of the exact setting but the opposite of that setting is for neutral ground, like on a white sand beach. Hope this helps some,

portion of your settings by default. Deep target signals don't get clipped that way and you get some audio boosting of the deepies too.

try to get alot of preferable targets from your home and play around with all the tones you can, especially conductive and ferrous multitones. Try to get used to one particular setting

To be very honest. I would run the stock settings for at least 30 hours before you start to adjust it. I know it seems like a stretch but if you really want to learn the machine. That's what i did under great advice. The thing about the ET is that it can be setup multiple different ways for as many situations. It can be very overwhelming at first if you try and do to much. The stock settings with adjusting some of the personal setting to your liking gives allot.

My 2 coppers.

Agree with EZRider. Not much wrong with the stock settings. Maybe 30 hours is pushing it... dunno. You will find stuff for sure while you get used to it. If you must tweak in the beginning, maybe try the backlight!

that would be ok in high iron areas also with those settings might be better with 2 tones,if i was you it might be better with conduct 2tones till you get used to the sounds, and the gain set to 24-26 to start with hope this helps
