Settings with discrimination

Curious to hear peoples everyday 3030 settings. What level of discrimination do you use. what separation mode do you use? Ground coin? Hi trash?.

I know everyone seems to like open screen combined. But what about those trashy parks.? I know it varies based on location. But what is your everyday standard mode in a average. I know many switch to Ferrous coin in heavy .iron. what do you use when you're not in heavy iron

Have you had luck with the stock point pattern?do you use andy sabisch con pattern?

Thanks guys.

The TID numbers are very similar to the E-TRAC. But I also recognize that with the additional functionality of the CTX 3030, you would not "make the most" of it's capabilities should you duplicate a discrimination pattern from a different series of detector. In reference to Andy's programs.....I don't know that Andy has made a Search mode for the CTX 3030 or even uses the CTX.
I think it is fine if folks want to share programs. As long as they realize that "your results may vary". There are simply too many variables in the places we hunt, the targets we seek and our "style" of hunting. Those are among the reasons I recommend people learn the functionality of their CTX 3030 with the programs provided in factory modes. Then, as you gain confidence in your abilities, build your own based on the sites you hunt and the types of targets you are searching for. Try out the new separation modes and audio profiles. Learn how to switch back and forth between patterns or search modes. Experiment and find out what works best for you.
With that said, there are a few programs that you can download, over on the CTX Classroom. If anyone comes up with some that others could benefit from, don't hesitate to let me know and I'll post them on the Classroom as well. HH Randy

Here's my question

When do you use Ground Coin/Ferrous coin/Hi/Low trash? Yes I read the manual and many posts on this forum and in the classroom.

Obviously ferrous coin in heavy iron

But what about when I'm in the woods and there is no heavy iron? Or little targets at all? Should I just stay in ferrous coin? What about a park with no iron at all. It seems everyone on here just locks their machine on Ferrous coin/open screen combine.. or do they?

Then I think to myself, maybe I'm in high mineralization because sometimes my auto sensitivity gets very low (between 8-10).. I switch to ground coin. But I know the recovery speed slows down when you do this. So then I think I should just stay in ferrous coin, and notice that switching to ferrous coin and even noise canceling does not increase auto sensitivity.

It's a a struggle of bouncing around in seperation modes and second guessing things

Thats why I'm curious what other people do.

Stay in one mode till you get good at it then try something differant i'm still in ferrous coin open screen and it is working for me .When done in one area try a differant mode and see if you can find anything you missed there.sube

I have Combined mode I set up per GoneHunting's Video on how to do it set to Auto + 3 and Ferrous Coin for playing in iron and have it set so I can push the person button on the control head face and switch back and forth with the stock Coins mode factory program.

I have that set Auto + 3 and HIGH TRASH. That is so it gives preference to good non disc. target over a bad disc. target near each other. After doing that I rehunt the area at different angles to my first go round and I switch the Coins pattern mode to LOW TRASH and see what all is left in the ground, OR...

If the area is really littered with iron and the machine nulls quite a bit I will go over the area in Combined with my settings. I also set the Volume Gain between 25-30 so as to make the good deeper targets not be missed as they sound about as loud as shallow targets. I can see on the screen how deep a target is so I don't need to listen for it so as not to miss it especially if is really deep.

So far been leaving Fast and Deep off as they add or remove filters and this machine processes targets quite fast already with very good target ID.
