Settings up to detect Batteries

Hello All,

I just got my bounty hunter 4 . I had mainly got it to find the mole chaser that I put in the yard a few years ago. the grass has grown so thick I cant find them anymore to change the batteries. I was trying to find a setting that will allow me to detect the "D" batteries in the mole chaser. the only problem is I had the yard grated and reseeded a year before I put in the mole chaser. and when they seeded the yard they put down this hay which they used little metal "u" shape stakes to keep the hay in place . well the detectors keeps detecting those stakes. I was wondering is there a way to set up the detector where it will only detect the " D" batteries in the mole chaser? or has anyone ever tried to do anything like that before. I have been theading the manual and playing around with different settings on the detector . but i just seem to keep fiinding the little "U" shape stakes. any advice??? any help is appreciated.

The batteries probably go on end in a tube and they're no doubt below the surface. Then there's a terminal for the battery and maybe electronics so it's hard to say what sort of signal ID it might have. Probably iron. On the hopes it might be a larger signal, try searching with the coil raised up enough you don't detect the spikes. Maybe reduce sensitivity or try a little discrimination with the same goal in mind.

Otherwise you may have to pull the stakes out till they're not in the way.

You should get a bigger signal than a spike that is for sure.
You could try turning the sensitivity down and the discrimination up. Most likely a battery will read hi, so you shouldn't loose it with a hi discrimination.

practice on some d batteries that you bury
try the batteries facing both ways
dig all the signals maybe you will get a ring
