SETTINGS on the Tracker IV

KennLove

New member
Greetings, dirt fishermen/women,
Have enjoyed reading the past posts here on this forum. They actually contribute to me patience AND my excitement!
Was wondering about others' opinions on the settings on the IV...I seem to be liking the TONE setting on the toggle, with the sensitivity up high and the Dicriminate setting at about noon or a little past.
What have others found to be their best settings?
BTW, I don't mind digging anything!!!

Gudday Kenn,
Just bought a Tracker IV myself a month or so ago and quite like the little machine.
I took it for a maiden hunt to WA and it performed reasonably well.
I hunted around a few old houses last weekend and had the Tracker set on all metal which I found
a little daunting after a while, digging everything up, which was 95% rubbish. So I decided to hunt
in disc mode, with about 10oclock and Sens about 3/4 oclock, which worked pretty well.
Check out one of my previous posts about the little Silver dragon etc.
Every hit was either a coin or object of interest, but I must admit that it still love the lead also.
HH and cheers

[size=large]I would agree with aushunter...do NOT set your DISC higher than 10 o'clock (9 o'clock will net ya more junk, but will also increase your chances at gold). Run your SENS as high as you can without the machine making constant chatter (falsing). This should get you maximum depth, and maximum finds...Ignore the meter all together, and listen to the audio...

Thank you for answering, aushunter and GoGoGopher. Man, I'll tell you, I've been trying all different settings. I live in a VERRRRY small town in Indiana. Our house was built in 1920, before the house it was a post office until 1900. I've seen maps from as far back as 1878, there's always been a building. My yard is 1 acre, out there was a barn as of 1925. The town, called Royalton but never incorporated and now unmarked, was platted in 1832. They say the name came from it being the FIRST town in the county where you could buy liquor by the Royal Ton....So, I was extremely excited to start detecting around. Didn't realize the absolute JUNK that has acculmulated in all these years. Got coins (nothing older than 1964), Matchbox cars, a couple interesting old iron parts off something, and lots and lots of varying kinds of nails. The rest is scrap. I'll ever and always keep going, probably until my wife puts her foot down on the last square inch of grass that hasn't been turned.
Thanks again, guys.
