Settings for TDI for central Arizona detecting?

I hope to be headed to the central Arizona goldfields by mid April, just hope its not too HOT? Can somebody suggest detector settings to use in the Rich Hill area for deep/larger gold for my Whites TDi? Should I bring my LoboST too or leave it at home this time? I couldn't find anything with it last time on the GPAA Lucky Linda claim.I am also trading off my Fisher F75 for a Minelab X70 with the 2 -18.75 khz coils. How do I set that machine up for nugget hunting?
Thanks, 68 degrees here in Illinois today, maybe winter will be over early this year, I hope?

The starting settings outlined in the manual will be just fine to start with, especially if you have not had much time on the machine.
Conductivity on Low
Pulse at 10
Gain about 9.
Depending on the ground, you may have to back off the gain a little. Even at max gain there is little falsing under most conditions. But 6 will give you a nice, smooth threshold. All your small targets will give you a High tone. Dig them all knowing you are missing the bigger targets.

Now, if you are going after the bigger, deeper targets, then you will want the Conductivity on High. This will give you a low tone on the larger targets. Dig all those knowing you will not hear the small nuggets.

Other than that, set the conductivity in All and you will hear everything. What to dig will depend on how abitious you are and how much patience you have for trash. The All setting is a bit more unstable, especially at higher gain. Practice with some buried targets on site to get a feel for the sounds, knowing that you will get more depth on a virgin target than a freshly buried one.

That's really about all you need to know to get started. A larger loop will, of course, give you more depth, like any machine.

Oh, and if you want to find small, shallow targets, then by all means, bring your Lobo along.

Thanks Bob.
I am still looking for a buddy to help me search for the LDM mine over by Apache Junction for a day or 2? Know any trustworthy souls who might be interested? I am only figgering a 3 mile hike in, need to climb the edge of a steep mesa to get a looksee at the spot I map dowsed for the LDM and take video and photos, more if it pans out. How does one climb a steep ,loose rock ravine, without falling or sliding back down? Need some tips if possible. We don't have hills to speak of in Illinois to practice on? I will have a small rock pick, shovel, hiking boots, grappling hook and some rope, might stow the TDi in my pack to free up a hand.
Thanks again,

Tom
