What should settings and size search coil, should I use to find a steel property marker? All metal,8 inch coil or 10.5? I use a coin strike. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Borrow a ferro probe from your local village or city or somebody. A regular detector can be a bear to use when there is a lot of iron cuz you will have to check every iron hit out and there could be hundreds. LOL
If it is not buried to deeply you could try a garden rake and see if you can get a snag on the stake with one of the tines. Thats what I did to find one of mine.

or if you know about where it should be you may be forced to just dig it all until you hit it. I got lucky finding my cesspool cover just because I knew appox where it was in theory supposed to be

I went out this evening, and got a reading on an iron stake that was already found. I used all metal,10.5 coil, sensitivity on 8 and threshold on 0. I answered an ad in the paper,a man wanted someone with a metal detector to find his property stakes. It took four signals to find them, two junk iron and two iron stakes! Thank God for Fisher metal detectors and good advice.

glad it work out for ya! I was wondering after.....if you could find 1 stake & you got the ID number, could you then (in theory) go dig only that number range to get the others? KInda like if you were looking for a lost ring & would skip high coins.......
