Settings and such...

Everyone knows I am a CZ nut, but just couldn't resist when I got a good deal on another used Explorer. Fine machine and amazing the way it works in many settings..Just because Joe in NJ or Pete in Cal.(fictional names) uses certain settings doesn't mean they will work for you but are certainly good guidelines..Peruse Google and you will come up with some fine sites with excellent opinions. After a while all will fall into place and you will be digging the goodies..Actually quickstart with sens. jumped into 20's makes a good starter program and produces while you learn the machine. Any questions we have the people to answer them so feel free...

Setting will chance from place to place, so not only will setting change in different area of the county, but even in the same hunting area. I have seen where 3 people in the same park will run differnt setting as this is what they are used to and know what the detector is telling them.
I seen today another good example as I was running my iron mask at a -8 as it seem to work the best for me for my hunting. Now today at a house I was at I was having a tough time getting any good signals, so I went to a -16 and seen there were signals all over the place from nails and run a -15 with ferrous tones and it was just one low tone after another, but every once in a while a high tone was in with them. These were the 4 wheaties and the merc that had nail on top of them I had walked over before with the -8 setting as the nail were nulling out the coin signals. Now i was hearing the nails and the coins.
For most people starting to learn the Explorer the factory setting as you say with a higher sensitivity will be the easiest and the best untill a person know what each setting will do for them, then set for what works the best for the area.
