Setting up MXT in "hot" ground.....

Set the ground track to lock before you turn it on. That sets the ground balance at 83. Keep it locked and you're on your way.
 
And if you detect in ground that runs like mind does, about 50 it's so easy to lock in by turning the detector on and just as soon as it quits buzzing push it to lock and it should be locked in at 50. I use this all the time for my area. You can always switch it to prospecting to make sure it locked in the right place.
