Setting Sensitivity on 6000 di pro sl

I pasted a response from one of Monte's posts below on the SL Pro.
Do you set the signal balance in the GEB Norm mode or the GEB Disc mode while the coil is on the ground?

Before I establish a Ground Balance I will set the Signal Balance control as high as possible while remaining stable. Do not do this with the coil in the air, but near the ground over a spot w/o metal nearby. I increase the Signal Balance to maximum, or close to, and take a look at the analog display. If the audio is noisy and/or the display needle is jumpy,or twitchy, then I SLOWLY reduce the Signal Balance just to the point where I gain stability. If I can pull and release the trigger toggle and the needle rests on the '0' without moving, then I am good to go, but I like it just barely at that point from being unstable and not set too low.

Hey Dan-o,

It's always important have your knob (mode) setting to GEB Norm when setting your Signal Balance. Once SB is set, then you can hunt in GEN Disc., GEB SAT, GEB Norm or TR/Disc. If you think that you're in highly mineralized ground, it is wise to check and re-set SB, but, alway's put your mode setting back on GEB Norm to make your adjustments as needed.

Monte is right, Do Not have coil in the air!

Hope this helps,

TC-NM

I always make a quick setting of the Signal Balance as noted in the red quote above. I set it at a point where it is just stable. I will then set a good, functional Ground Balance, trying to get it just slightly positive, and then Lock the setting. I seldom use Auto-Trac due to the amount of iron trash at most sites I hunt.

Once I set the GB I will double-check the Signal Balance setting and tweak it a little higher, if possible.

I do all of this in the GEB-Disc. mode. It is not necessary to switch to GEB-Norm or GEB-SAT to make the Signal Balance or GB adjustments. I make the adjustments, doing the Air/Ground procedure in GEB-Disc. which works fine, because once done you raise the coil to about 8" or so and trigger into GEB-Norm, as if pinpointing, so that you can lower the coil to about

Thanks for the replies TC and Monte.
Can't wait to get out again this weekend and give it a try.

Hello, I just bought a Whites coinmaster 6000 D/I series 3. I use to use the Bounty hunter. What would be the best way to start out. The manual says to hold at waste high to ground balance, Please help me understand, thank you. captaingumby at terrypet2121@hotmail.com.

Glad you guys continue to talk about these things, as I am slowly learning more and more about how to use my 600 Di Pro SL. Can't wait for the weekend.... Now if I could just get that meter to move!

Keep talkin' guys.

I think I need an instructor to help me with the settings. I have ADHD and have a hard time understanding. I thank you for the email and will try the near ground ballancing,

Hey, no prob, Cap'n.

My 6000 finds coins just fine, but I can't get that meter to move at all.

When you move your Power switch to BAT. CHK. do you get a meter movement? I don't!!!

If you put all the switches to the P position and then do the ground balance thing, you should be good to go. Mine was.
