Set of Bridle Conchos

pplinker

New member
Dug the first one of these and thought it was off a kids toy or something, then found an identical one. Dug harness rings and buckles near same spot. So was thinking those decorative things they put where the head strap and forehead strap meet below the horses ears on a bridle. After finding they are called conchos, I looked up heart shaped conchos. Lots of pictures of civil war pieces with the same heart design and one pair that was identical. I'm not on any civil war site but people probably had old stuff laying around from older times.

Do they have a pin in the back that went through the leather? or a thingy on the back where the leather went through?

They would have had a rectangular shaped "loop" that allowed the leather straps to go through. They are missing because the backs are a mass of rust, only the brass remaining.

Congrats on the conchos...
